Pictures to come...

Ok, so I know I've never actually posted a picture on this blog, but I see other people doing it all the time.  So, I've decided to post some pictures VERY VERY soon.  I just returned from a college tour on the east coast (Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York), and I even got to go to Times Square which was amazing!  I promise that I'll post some pictures as soon as I can.

Sincerely,
A Self-Proclaimed, Picture-Taking Nerd

Quote of the Day #5

"I strove to master words, to make them disappear, to make them important by making them new, to make them melt into a rising spiral of emotional stimuli...all ending in an emotional climax that would drench the reader with a sense of a new world."

-Richard Wright, excerpt from Black Boy, an autobigraphy

I thought that was one of the deepest things I've ever read in a book.  To anyone who is a writer, you should officially make that your motto! :)

Sincerely,
A Self-Proclaimed, Deep Thinking Nerd

I love my friends...

My friend *cough Tales of a High School Bookworm and Drama Geek cough* is officially one of the biggest Harry Potter geeks I have ever seen.  It's very entertaining to hear her talk about anything and everything Potter. :)

Signed,
A Self-Proclaimed Nerd who suddenly doesn't feel so nerdy ;)

Quote of the Day #4

"People who are dying recognize what we often forget, that we are standing on the brink of another world."
- William Law, British theologian

Let that sink in for a second.

Signed,
A Nerd who is feeling deep today ;)

High School Stereotypes, part 3

So, this is the end of my series for high school stereotypes (finally!).  Today, I'm going to target my own kind: nerds.  Yes, those overachieving students who are always on time for class and sit in the front.  Honestly, I'll probably just be observing my own habits and just laughing at myself in this blog.  Although, my friend Tales of High School Bookworm said that I'm a pretty cool nerd, so give me some credit. ;)

So, the life of a nerd can vary.  Some nerds are really athletic or artistic as well as being smart (they're the lucky ones).  Some, on the other hand, are purely academic, and any other things that they are good at somehow relate back to academics.  That's the kind of nerd I am, although I really like to sing as well.  I'm not an athlete at all, and I can't draw to save my life.  Give me an essay to write, though, and I'll give you some A+ material. :)  See, even that right there was nerdy.  I can't escape myself, but that's ok because I'm completely confident in my nerdyness!

Now, don't get the wrong impression that nerds aren't fun because they definitely are, and they're usually some of the nicest people too.  That's why I love nerdy guys.  They (almost) always have their heads securely on their shoulders, and they're just really down-to-earth.  So, if there are any nerds out there reading this, stand up and be proud because there's nothing to be ashamed of.  My teacher once told me, "Nerds make the world go 'round." And I realized that she was absolutely right.  Where would be without nerds?  No computers?  No iPods?  No TV?  How would we survive?!?  Haha I'm saying this all to say that, no matter what group you consider yourself to be in, be proud of who you are because you wouldn't be you without it.

Comment below and tell me what group you think you fall under and 1 reason why you're proud to be in that group.

Sincerely,
A Very Proud, Self-Proclaimed Nerd
